Australia’s methadone madness.

In this chapter, the most interesting part in studying it was the ‘audience’ and ‘impact’. In this unit 5, we will look depth more about who is the audience and what impact does the text have on the audience. This is because for the audience element, there is some skills to make it more academic and specific answer. For example:

· ‘Who is the text clearly not intended for?’

· ‘What interests are appealed to?’

· ‘What group or groups are criticized in the text?’

By recognizing this, it will help to locate the kind of audience the text is designed for.

There is some task that is difficult to understand, which is about the ‘types exposition: persuading that and persuading to. Its also include about the hortatory and analytical exposition.

‘Out of puff’ is not actually is a difficult text to understand. As stated early in the 1st paragraph, this unit is actually focuses more in the audience and also the impact. Just need to think depth more about it.

BODY LANGUAGE THAT SPEAKS TO MUGGERS

Argument and evidence is the most important part in our writing because it will gives an acknowledge to the readers. Argument is where we looked at the both perspective and add values in our story. Statistic is intended to texts that link facts and figures. It begins by defining terms, mentioning a number of domains where statistic are widely used.

‘Crooked and fallacious thinking’ and ‘more crooked and fallacious thinking’ is difficult to understand. In this chapter it says that crooked and fallacious thinking is not only evidence illogical mental processes and poor communication skill but is also a manipulative tool in the hands of speakers wishing to influence and affect the judgment of their listener.

To approach my reading in the body languages that speaks to muggers, I used the 10th elements to make it easier to understand. By this way, I will be able to see the context of the text.

Please, let me go to your school.

Discourse is more likely talking about the world from the point of view of a social institution – sexism. Sexist discourse is about the socialization of the natural category of sex as gender. In this chapter ‘discourse and readers’ Kress shows how the language constructs ‘Miss Seductress’ as a sexist ‘stereotype’ whose whole identity is dependent on what men think of her. The ideal reader for this kind of article is mostly like to agree with that in this case women can be used as objects by men. For me, this is interesting to read about.

Genre and reading position can be confusing because we need to become aware of how texts position us, which means looking critically at texts whose constructions of the world we have previously taken granted as natural. This is not easy as we think of.

I have no comment about ‘Truth about youth’. It’s a surprised to know that young people that have been identified youth suicide

Battling the Bullies.

In this chapter "Language, Perspective, Ideology" it shows how a text will contain linguistic features that act as 'markers' (page 92) or indicators of the perspectives and ideologies of both writer and intended audience.

The first marker of the white perspective occurs at the second word of the text. The reference to the black township of Soweto rather than simply rather than simply to the township of Soweto is directed to an expect ion on the part of the reader that people are white, unless otherwise specified.

Textual analysis and production is difficult for me to understand. In page 75, it has been stated that the analysis moves from locating specific signs, to examining the structures of social myths. How can it make a connection? This is difficult for me.

The first time I read ‘Battling the Bullies’ is not hard and difficult to understand. By looking at the headline we can predict what the article is all about. But when I make it in the 10 elements, its get clearer and easy to understand.

As a conclusion, if we careful reading of the texts can reveal the ideological assumptions which inform their production.

convicted killer back at work

The story is about nurse Deborah Perry, who convicted of murdering her colleague Australian Yvonne Gilford in Saudi Arabia. She and her friend Lucille Mclauchlan, 32, from Dundee were freed by King Fahd of Saudi Arabia. But she has to pay a sum of money about $1.7 million, than she can get to work as usual. In the article also stated "I've killed no one, I've done nothing wrong" She said. But obviously everyone is afraid of going to Hospital.

In this unit, we have been exposed to 'stories and facts', which is 'stories' is mostly about the general thing/general recount. While facts is like a supporting details/supported with other informations.

Rules and Regulations, can be quite difficult to understand about their concept. In this chapter it discussed about the relationship between languages structure and social structure, which i might get confused easily. For example in page 29, its about a command structure.
