Discourse is more likely talking about the world from the point of view of a social institution – sexism. Sexist discourse is about the socialization of the natural category of sex as gender. In this chapter ‘discourse and readers’ Kress shows how the language constructs ‘Miss Seductress’ as a sexist ‘stereotype’ whose whole identity is dependent on what men think of her. The ideal reader for this kind of article is mostly like to agree with that in this case women can be used as objects by men. For me, this is interesting to read about.
Genre and reading position can be confusing because we need to become aware of how texts position us, which means looking critically at texts whose constructions of the world we have previously taken granted as natural. This is not easy as we think of.
I have no comment about ‘Truth about youth’. It’s a surprised to know that young people that have been identified youth suicide
